Kitchen tables have not yet quite gone the way of the dodo bird or the dinosaur but they’ve come close to being on the endangered
home and kitchen decor list.
Once a household staple, recent home decor trends have witnessed a passing over of the kitchen tables in favor of breakfast nooks, kitchen
islands have become an oasis over which to linger while savoring a cup of joe and a grapefruit while perusing the morning headlines. Formica just isn't what it use to be.
Although in
truth, these days, that morning cup of coffee is more likely to be found on the road than in ye olde coffee pot atop the counter in the kitchen.
The saving grace for a place for saying grace in the kitchen is the current trend in home design and a decor penchant for making
everything old new again with retro showing up on the tip of everyone’s tongue.

Once a euphemism for decorating on a budget, retro has
legitimized itself as a bold design and color statement extending from Viking ranges to KitchenAid appliances to the ever popular formica
kitchen tables reminiscent of diner settings and double-scooped ice cream soda glasses.
And while they may risk being out of fashion, kitchen tables will never be out of place or out of fashion in the quaint, familiar familial setting of the summer
cottage or country decor setting where familiarity is almost always certain to breed content.
For the more daring among us, contemporary kitchen decor and design trends for tables may well leave you without a leg to stand on. But then again, a pedestal may be just the thing
your kitchen tabletop needs to be put upon, making for a pleasant change of pace for a kitchen surface that's too often left feeling, well, put upon.
