Personal computers are a home office absolute. Let’s face it, a home office without a computer is like a kitchen with no stove or a family room
with no television.
And as more and more people work from home, either because they have made the choice to telecommute or because they have left the corporate
world to strike out on their own in search of fortune or a simple self-fulfillment, computers play an ever increasing role in the home particularly after such a
personal choice, taking center stage in the home office.
There are any number of considerations that must be decided before making a computer purchase. Who will be using it and how frequently. Does a
desktop system or a laptop make more sense? Should it be an Apple computer or a PC from HP, Dell or Gateway? Will a single monitor screen suffice or will you
require more than one?
Research and comparative analysis is an absolute requirement in shopping for computers but there are other considerations as well. Personal computers in the home are
generally replaced every three or four years so service, maintenance packages and warranties must be taken into consideration.
System and software requirements are
also a significant part of the equation and the cost so look into them as well. Solicit opinions from all available sources before making your choice. Those include
the Internet, brick and mortar retail locations and, of course, other users.
Finally personal computers can accomplish relatively little without the right
peripherals including printers and the like.
When it comes to personal computers, a little practicality can go a long way particularly for home office computers.
The newest models on the market may not make the
best computers for your home office as technology changes may make the second generation the better choice in personal computers and incumbent productivity.
