When it comes to selecting the most appropriate dining chairs to suit your table, it’s best to get right to the bottom of the matter right off the
top.
Dining chairs should optimally rise 18 to 20 inches from the floor with top of the seat approximately twelve inches from the top of table for best seating
comfort.
Ideally, dining chairs should also be about 20 to 24 inches deep back to front.
A second consideration in selecting the dining chairs most appropriate to your room is those who will in fact be occupying them the most.
And
here, there are two considerations.

If dinner is a nightly affair involving the whole family, including kids, then dining room chairs should generally be easy to
manipulate, possibly made of a lighter material.
The second consideration is material and upholstery.
Multilayered fabrics are generally more difficult to maintain and if
kids are a consideration, then so to should be ultrasuede or dining chair covers of choice which can be easily cleaned and/or changed as desired.
Dining chairs should always be purchased with the intention of keeping them around a while. And they should be comfortable.
Bench seating offers an eclectic, contemporary and non-traditional feel
in addition to easily affording extra places at the table.
And finally, budget permitting, buy more chairs than the typical seating.
There will always be a need for
additional dining room chairs and it’s nice to have them available and on hand.
