Decor trends and ideas in bathroom lighting are nothing short of illuminating as they move front and center, becoming a design
and decor accessory necessity. At a minimum, bathroom lighting must be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, shedding light on either the
mood, or on the task at hand.
From a purely utilitarian point of view, well-lit task areas are a minimal but absolute requirement. Lighting can be employed dramatically
and effectively to create the subtle illusion of a larger space. Recessed lighting works well above and around the vanity. Recessed lighting can also be
employed for shower stalls, particularly those that may use darker tiling. Additionally, uplighting can be equally dramatic particular at night in a
bathroom with natural light from a window or skylight.
Bathroom lighting styles can be as varied as their finish, running the gamut from the very contemporary to the very traditional. From stone to glass to metal to
acrylic; chandeliers to sconces to recessed lighting there is no end of options available.

Lighting can either be subtle and tucked out of sight, hidden in the recesses or made that much more apparent to stand out and shine effortlessly, depending
on the desired effect. For simple relaxation, sconces can add warmth to the overall look and feel of your bathroom decor.
For romance, art deco style sconces are subtle and understated although for the truly romantic,
nothing can compete with the relaxation of an aromatherapy bubble bath in concert with a fluted glass of champagne, candles and perhaps the
company of something or someone more than the companionship of your vaunted rubber ducky.
For the more dramatic and obvious, recent trends have moved towards ceiling lights with fans, or
chandeliers. And for the trend of the moment, submerged lighting offers the ultimate effect in creating understated drama.
It is imperative that bathroom lighting should at all times be particularly safe, given the demands of its environment. In addition, placement
of lighting is critical in this environment as well.
The bathroom is a space full of sparkle and polish but poor lighting positioning runs the risk of creating more glare than anything else which
may bring unwanted flaws to light.
