Baby Furniture Definitely Child Proof

Baby furniture is nothing else if not definitive proof of at least one child in the household but of course at an absolute minimum, baby furniture needs to be child proof.

When it comes to baby furniture, safety is always the first and foremost concern as well it should be followed by comfort and then by its overall aesthetic and how it looks and functions in the nursery.

A themed room will last for years to come, so ensure that the baby furniture chosen will also stand the test of time, and frankly, wear and tear, able to easily transition from baby furniture to toddler furniture, making it less of a drain on the bank account along the way.

Primary baby furniture elements should at a minimum include the requisite crib and mattress; changing table, ideally one that can transition to become a dresser in later years; a diaper disposal system; the requisite and very necessary hamper; and additional storage which will always be welcome no matter what age your child.

Two other decor elements that are absolute requirements for the room may not necessarily qualify as baby furniture per se, but every nursery should come equipped with them.

The first is a rocker, recliner or daybed for obvious reasons and the nights when baby can’t sleep so no one else can either. And the latter is a baby monitor which, while not necessarily baby furniture, provides comfort and piece of mind.

When it comes to kids furniture and furnishings within the room a couple of oversights are common.

Recent decor trends for baby furniture include round cribs, cribs with canopies; skirted cribs and baby armoires. While ruffles may convey a certain luxury, they aren’t always recommended.

Babies become toddlers and ideally baby furniture should make that transition as well with cribs adapting to become toddler beds and changing tables becoming hutches or dressers.

However, toddlers are renowned for the things they get into. Nail down and anchor all the furniture before your little bundle of joy learns to crawl and becomes a study in curiousity.
